Hello Everyone,

Hope 2019 is going well for you all!

We had a wonderful, well-attended Montessori Conference in October - a big thank you to all those who attended the conference.  Thanks also to everyone who became members, (either new or returning), to our Montessori PSA. We need to maintain or increase our membership so that we continue to get grants from the BCTF.

Our 2018- 2019 Budget was presented at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The PSA Executive wanted to remind all our members that we budgeted for TTOCs
so that members could apply for these funds to observe in other Montessori classrooms. Ideally a teacher could apply for a half-day (so that more half-days are available to others) to visit a Montessori classroom so that they can network and observe other Montessori techniques/ideas. To apply, please email Patricia Patrick at psac78@bctf.ca, stating what day and time (morning or afternoon) you would like to book a TTOC.  I will be able to book it for you through the BCTF.

We also have Bursary monies available to help our members who engage in Professional Development opportunities related to Montessori.
The Bursary application form is on our PSA website at bcmontessoripsa.org

Remember there is a Montessori Conference in Victoria, BC on May 10th and 11th that is put on by VIMA (Vancouver Island Montessori Association). Dr. Lillard is the keynote speaker (author of The Science behind the Genius) and Michael Dorer, the great storyteller and author of The Deep Well of Time is coming to do several workshops.
Registration information should be coming out soon. Stay tuned!

Through the BCTF New Teachers’ Conference, members of our PSA Executive will be presenting a Sensorial and Math Materials Workshop in Vernon on April 5th, 2019.
Hope to see some of you there!

Uplands Elementary in Langley has kindly offered to host the next PSA Evening on Tuesday, April 16th at 6:30 pm.  We will be exploring the Cultural Materials, including the Tree of Life materials from Waseca. This will be a fantastic opportunity to see how all the cultural materials are linked together – mark your calendars!

Remember this year’s PSA Montessori conference will be on Friday, October 25th. Stay tuned for more information on theme and place at a later date. We need a school to volunteer to host it!

All the best,

Patricia Patrick, President of the BCMTPSA, on behalf of the entire Executive
